Information for Patients

The CEML emergency unit is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The unit is always staffed with 1 physician and 2 nurses, with a surgeon available on-call.

The staff is trained to manage a variety of injuries and illnesses and to apply triage to all arrivals to determine the appropriate level of care.

Our emergency unit has 4 beds. CEML has 1 ambulance to deliver patients. You can also book a ride to CEML with the national ambulance service: 928 043 803

Consults at CEML are open from 8:00 to 16:00 every Monday-Friday. After hours care is available at an extra service cost. The team of physicians and nurses is capable of diagnosing, treating and referring a variety of conditions.

Services include:

Chest care (airway disease detection; tuberculosis; allergies; asthma)

Chronic condition care

Orthopedic care (injury management; degenerative muscle management; knee & back pain management; arthritis; orthopedic rehab)

Surgical outpatient services (post-op consults)

OB/GYN services (booking elective c-section; fertility clinic; colposcopy; hysterectomy; fibroid removal; removal of adnexal masses and tubal ligation)

CEML is equipped with an excellent surgical team who treat adult and child patients. Patients may be transferred to the wards post-operation.

Common surgical procedures include:

General surgery (tonsillectomy; thyroidectomy; surgical excision of benign and malignant masses; mastectomy; umbilical hernia; acute abdomen surgery; abscess drainage; cholecystectomies; trauma repair; osteomyelitis)

Pediatric surgery (hydrocephalous; hernia repair)

Endoscopy (bronchoscopy; cystoscopy; colonoscopy; esophagogastroduodenoscopy; laryngoscopy; sigmoidoscopy)

Orthopedic repair (long/flat fractures; corrective surgery; skeletal traction)

CEML provides care to terminally ill patients and their families. We supply physical, social, spiritual and emotional care to people who are in the late stages of an illness during the end of life process and bereavement.

Care includes:

Bereavement counseling

Administering medicine to prevent and relieve pain

Psychological and spiritual support

Supplemental nutrition

CEML runs a pharmacy which is equipped with a variety of drugs to meet patient needs.

Our radiology services include digital x-ray imaging and ultrasounds.

Our laboratory services include:

Clinical chemistry

The laboratory also maintains CEML’s blood bank.

The staff in our maternity unit are available 24 hours a day to provide aid to expectant mothers and to assist in the birthing process.

CEML has separate wards for men and women. The men’s ward contains 16 beds; the women’s ward contains 20 beds. Private rooms are also available. There are 2 nurses assigned to each ward, with a physician available on-call.
